Matsumoto – location
You will find Luna Matsumoto easily! In Motomachi, a quiet suburb NE of the city centre, next to the Metoba River. Awesome views of the Alps from the window (we’re on the 1st floor if you’re English, 2F if less fortunate!) Building has rather large Luna International banners around it, which makes it pretty hard to miss. By local bus: Take the “Asama line” bus & get off at the Yokota bus stop, outside Skylark restaurant/opposite Mosburger. Look back, you’ll see Luna behind the petrol station, to the right. Buses run every twenty minutes or so from the bus station. By taxi: From Matsumoto train station it’ll take about 10 minutes. Ask the driver to head for “Motomachi no Circle K, Yamabiko doro”. You’ll see Luna behind the Cosmo petrol station when he drops you at the ‘Circle K’ convenience store. By car: From the Expressway (Chuo, Matsumoto Interchange) head for the city centre/train station. Easier than it sounds; turn left after you exit the I.C. Stay on the busy road, cross Route 19. Second set of lights after R.19 turn right. This leads you to Eki Mai dori in front of the main train station. Turn left & go straight on until you get to a big blue roadsign, to turn left for Ueda, Asama (this is Yamabiko Dori). Follow this road, past Jusco (left), Watahan/Seiyu (right). Turn left at the lights just before ‘Circle K’, where there’s a “Cosmo” gas station on the corner. Luna’s on your left. NB. We have limited parking (down the left side of the building only). By train: By Highway Bus: From Shinjuku (West exit) or Nagoya to Matsumoto bus station, a cheaper alternative than the train, just as quick, but a bit harder to find/book a ticket if you don’t speak Japanese. By plane:
By bike/on foot: You can get here easily from the castle/city centre, but it’s a crooked path! Follow the driving directions unless you can read a map well! You really want to try? Head towards the castle, turn right when you get to the river, head upstream for about 15 mins. You'll see us on the right (look for Union Jacks) By boat: not really possible, but we are looking into canoeing the Metoba River, which becomes part of Japan’s longest river, meeting the Ocean in Niigata. If you get lost, click your heels twice. |
